What is this?

It’s difficult meeting new people and making new friends at the best of times, let alone when working remotely, moving to new cities, and when existing friends are all going their separate ways.

So in 2021, after returning to the South West and realising he didn't know many people anymore, John started the Crescent Club.

Aside from our charity of the year we have no purpose but to connect people in a relaxed, informal, accessible, and sociable way.

Today we’re over 400 members across Bristol & Bath and a team of 10 committee members who all volunteer their time to organise events and keep the club running.

We're like a student's union, but for adults.

Meet the Committee

Our club is managed by a volunteer committee of up to 10 members. All members are able to apply to join committee whenever there is a vacancy.

John

"John started the club because he was bored. Now there's over 400 members and he very much likes standing on chairs and talking to them all. Software sales by day, honorary El Presidente by night."

Kerry

"Reigning club member of the year, Kerry is a graphic designer from Bristol. When she's not in front of a Mac you can find her swimming in lakes or sitting in saunas."

Russell

"Our own king of North Street and retro ski outfits, when not blasting the tunes on the slopes, or being an unapologetic gamer, Russell runs Bristol's largest independent film studio. "

Archie

"A Guinness aficionado (which Irishman isn't?), Archie is always a strong voice for the membership on the committee. He's pretty handy if you need a new mortgage too"

Tara

"The driving force behind so much that is good about the Crescent Club, including running our first ski trip, Tara is the life and soul of every event. Famed for her ability to whip up a tartiflette at 3AM."

Angus

"The absolute final boss of club sports and physical activity. Angus can be found leading anything from mountain hikes to tennis tournaments. Unsurprisingly you may well spot him flying around town on his bike."

Lara

"She may be the club first lady but Lara brings plenty to the table in her own right. She's our local Emergency Doctor and knows her way around a fancy dress box"

Harry

"Our newest committee member and probably the best dressed. Having only joined the club recently, Harry is an advocate for new member's and their experience."

Charity of the Year

Our charity of the year for 2024 is the Marmalade Trust.

Marmalade Trust is an award-winning charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and empowering people to make connections.

They align directly with the values of our club and we're proud to have them as our partner for 2024.
